Following previously provided information by the National Security Agency in coordination with the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Interior - Public Security Bureau, on December 15, 2024, an operation was conducted in the area of the cities of Gostivar and Struga, in which four people were arrested and deprived of their liberty, on suspicion of being involved in activities related to terrorism.



In order to prevent the commission of terrorist activities, the National Security Agency, in cooperation and through the exchange of information with partner services, has recently taken enhanced operational measures and activities against these individuals.



The individuals are ideologically linked to the terrorist organization "Islamic State/ISIS" and in the past period of time have undertaken activities for religious-radical indoctrination of young people, as well as preparatory actions related to carrying out violent activities that contain elements of terrorism.



During the further procedure, the competent judicial authorities, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, undertake measures and activities to conduct additional investigative actions in relation to the persons in question.



The National Security Agency, within its competences and mandates for early prevention and protection of the security of the state and citizens, remains committed and continuously undertakes a set of measures and activities, including for detecting online propaganda and content that is linked to international terrorist organizations and aims to recruit, inspire or incite terrorism.



Modern security threats emphasize the importance of cooperation with domestic and foreign partner institutions, and the Agency remains a dedicated and credible partner in preventing and thwarting threats to national security.
